View Full Version : Best fishing moment
Just curious what others have to share about their best fishing moment. When I caught my first striper over 40" was my best moment.

I don't have any "Best" days, just several unforgettable ones. The 2 lastest were the days when my grand daughter caught her first smallie, a 2.5 lb. river fish, and it went airborn about 10-12 ft. off the back of the boat.
She squeeked and almost threw the pole in the river. She got him boatside, but I had to land it. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me that day.
The other was the day my step-son and I took 2nd place at a small tournament at Hampton Ponds.
My best moments would be when my grandfather first taught me how to fish. My grandparents house is right by a lake in Pennsylavnia. Every summer as a kid I would visit them for about 3 weeks. Most days were spent catching fish off of docks. Looking back those memories are more treasured today since my grandfather passed away over 10 years ago.

I've been really lucky, and have had quite a few of them. But the most vivid one that I have, happened was two summers ago. We were out sharking with a couple of guy's from CTF site with one of the most reputable shark fisherman in Northeast, Bill Brown aboard his boat the Billfish. We had been a drift for approximately a hour a half I was chumming some s&it over the side thinking about the beatiful day and calm sea's. When all hell broke loose litterly. The close rod set at 80 feet started singing like something I've never heard before. Just as the hook was being set a huge Mako pushing more than 800 pounds leaps out of the water, then lands making a huge sea of foam. Then there was slack in the line, I still have the vivid photo in my mind and just missed taking film of it. Damn, Damn, Damn that could have been something very very special. If anyone is ever thinking about taking a shark trip I have had very successfull trips with Capt. Bill Brown and would recommend him. Once you get that offshore bug, it never leaves you.
