Is anyone else out there getting the itch for hunting yet? I just got a bow this year and am super excited about trying to get a deer with it. I own 45 1/2 acres in Huntington and it has a decent amount of deer activity around.

I have gotten two deer (my only two) in the past few years, but both have come out of PA at my inlaws property. Looking to get one in MA this year! Never gotten a bear or turkey yet.

I would love to get a bear this year. I have some sign that they are in my area. We have tons of blackberries out back and the bears have been eating them from the signs. My Ruger 7MM Mag is ready to go.

Still plenty of fishing to do also. But I am getting anxious!

I have had the fever all year. I hunt zones 1 & 2 MA, as well as NH.

I hunt in a town close to Huntington.

You are lucky to have access to private land in PA.

Good luck

Down here where I am in Maryland the season opens on Monday. I got all my stuff ready. I joined a club with 12,000 acres for $60 bucks and qualified with my bow and shot gun and muzzleloader. The best thing is that it is owned and managed by the federal gov't. Its actually part of Fort Meade. Also any deer that i get inside the club don't count towards my Maryland bag limit. I took monday and tuesday off for the first two days of archery. Im ready to go and the sign looks good you see a lot more deer down here then in WMASS they are big in rack size but small in body. 8 pointer goes about 110 120 down here but i think the action is goign to be pretty good. Hopefully i will have a good report to post next week. It will be nice to sit in a tree stand in 70 degree weather and not have to freeze.

Set up the new deer target in the yard and have been shooting off the deck. Deck is 15+ feet above the deer( the back yard is sort of teared) and now around 20yds out. It will end up in the edge of the woods @ 28 yards by the end of September. I try to shoot 15-20 arrows a day. I need to get another 1/2 arrows as it gets a little tiring shooting 5, going down and getting them and going back up. Call me lazy.
Shooting a BowTech Thomcat. Great bow, whisker rest is getting noisy?
I love this time of year.

Trying to get ready, been walking six miles a day to get in shape. been dealing with a bum shoulder all summer so only been shooting the bow a couple times a week, hitting decent groups but it sucks only getting a couple of days in when i generaly shoot all week, did have a cortazone shot today hopefully that works and i can pick up the pace flinging them arrows. hope to hit the woods down in Ct. in a couple of wk.s as long as it cools down, hate swating skeeters and being soaking sweat wet. GOOD LUCK to all the up coming season

Can anyone suggest the best time of day for bear hunting? Mornings/Evenings? I have a lot of black berry bushes that have been visited by a bear(s). There are still some around too, berries that is.

Early Morning or Late Evening is the best time because it is so hot right now. Stake out food sources. But there are alot of nuts in the woods and thats why i don't think they are hitting corn real hard. There is a bear hunting thread somewhere in the hunting section here.
