Type of Outing: Bass/Pike morning then Afternoon, Dusk to Evening Channel Catfishing.

I choose to do both due of them due to poll results from members of the site.

If you can't make bass/pike, try to make it to the Channel Catfishing outing during the evening.

Fishing area see Pictures:

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h218/fisher16_2006/ChicopeeBoatLaunchSouthW.jpg
Please post if you are going to attend the outing.

A seperate food thread will be posted.

Lunker pools for both events will be $5.00 per person.

I am also thinking about adding something a little nice to the winner but that will be kept top secret until the Outing.

Reminder if your fishing at night to please have lights illuming your boat.

You don't have to be a boating angler to attend. There is plenty of great shoreline access with great fishing along the ramp area to the Chicopee River.

Swear1 Sorry can't make this one.Leaving for N.C outer banks that day.But if you decide on the island up here i'll be only to glad to set you guys up the best i can.Theres a spot down stream that is good to park and shuttle up to the island and its on the channel side thats a plus.Ramp could be a pain in the prop if river is low but not to worry i have it down pretty good. Will go into more details if you pick this spot. noresnan and I are suppose to go one of these nights .and after looking at the river today thats going to be real soon so i could show him the boat ramp deal.

I can bring the 14' Starcraft with the 9.9hp or leave it at home. It is a very basic boat so I don't know how beneficial it would be for the conn. River...especially at night! If I could buddy up with someone it would be great! I can bring whatever for food!

I'll try and make it at least for awhile. Everything as far as firm plans go are kinda on hold for the time being. All depends on what is happening with the wife.

If I do come I will bring some "adult beverages".

Guys you can bring the food of your choice please post it so I can update the threads on what you would like to bring though. That way we all know what everyone is bringing and we don't duplicate each other.

If you don't have lighting on your boats I can recommend buying the portable lighting at Dicks Sporting Goods store. Red/green nav lighting and the rear lighting. They both take double AA batteries and when I ran a small boat on the river used them all the time for striper/catfishing. We won't have to travel far to catch the cats at night.

The maps I put up are just to give you guys general understanding of the area in which we can fish. I'm not sure on how much knowledge everyone has of this stretch of river so on the day of the outing I'll let everyone know about the area's to avoid for shallow areas. I have pulled numerous ten pound cats from this area, and nice bass/pike.

Bait for the cats at night can be shiners live/dead or mackeral chunks on the bottom. Or if you have a secert bait then buy all means use it.

If we get a bunch of guys with boats I will pull a permit for the day on the ramp. The ramp does have tournaments from time to time so it can be a bit busy. There are 38 parking areas for vehicles with trailers and its a nice grade ramp allowing two boats at a time to be launched.

From the looks of things I will be also attending. I will bring the MAanglers banner, bug repellent, ice, and food. (Basically everything I brought to the last get together at Brimfield). I will try to get some of my buddies to come to this one. Last one they were all away/busy that day. If for any reason I cannot make the event Fisher I will make arrangements with you and I can drop the items that I have donated for the event off to you somewhere since we live in the same city.

16 hrs of fishing.Just a suggestion ,mabe we can split the fishin into morning and evening,But,Plan to have everyone there at like 5 or 6 pm to eat and mingle.so some can fish in the day and some at night ,so we can all eat and hang for a little while before the "second shift" fishes. LOL.But just one $ 5 for the biggest fish of the get togeather, to all who fish.Just my 2 cents. Beerchug

Members attending the morning Bass/Pike tourny can fish from 7:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. Weigh the morning fish in, take some pic's of all the trophy fish, release fish. After releaseing our catch we can eat, socialize, get the gear ready for round two until the second shift guys arrive for the catfishing event. Make sure the catfish crew have plenty to eat and drink, explain the the area to everyone. Hit the water till around 10:00 or so call it a day. Weigh some more fish take some more pic's and head for the barn after all is said and done.

If everyone wants to chip in more money for lunker pools thats fine with me. I just wanted to keep it reasonable but the more money in my pocket the happier I'll be. Tongue1 Laughing1 I love those green backs.Thumbsup

Still not sure if I can make the whole day. My partner can only make the evening for catfishing. Where are you going to set up the "Social Area"? I will bring some soft assorted drinks for the evening session.(someone else already mentioned adult drinks) If were lucky enough to get a clear night we might get a light show from the peresids meteor shower, it's supposed to peak right around then.

fisher16
08-02-2006, 09:45 PM
There is a nice shady area next to the ramp that I was thinking about setting up. Although we won't have to worry about to much shade around 5:00 pm. I am also hoping for a clear night as well.

I was out today on the Ct. and the water has dropped around eight feet since Friday. You could always launch the canoe and I would be more than willing to pull you to a spot and you could drift down stream. It will probably take around two to three hours to get back to the launch.

Looks like I'll be able to make the whole day Saturday. Wasn't sure if I could get the morning or not but I finished the project I was working on and put the next one off till Sunday. I will have an open seat for the morning session if anyone is interested. (sorry evening seat is taken) I will be bringing an assortment of soft drinks and water along with some folding chairs and the extra set of navagation lights if anyone needs them.

Cannot wait for Saturday!!! I will be there between 5-6pm. My buddy bailed on me so I have an open seat. I don't like to take more than me and one other because it can get crowded! I wouldn't mind having someone who knows this stretch of river for I have never fished it!

TWO DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry Tacoma I won't leave you guys high and dry. I want everyone to have a safe and great day/evening on the River. I will update everyone before they head out. My wife may make it down for the night outting so if you have a open spot would it be okay for my brother to jump on board with you?

Sean are you going to be home today? If you see this please pm me back as I will drop some things off for the outing like the banner or can wait till 2mrw which will be best. I am going to miss the morning session due to family things but will probably be able to catch the catfish session. Anyone have an extra spot on board or willing to show my friends who are newbies to the river how to navigate it safely if they decide to come? Thanks

Hey fisher don't forget to charge your boat battery for this round! Tacoma I will probably be there before you. I want to try and catch a pike to put up for the contest with NEF. Look for a black and silver tracker. See everyone at the launch around 7:00 am. I will also have an open seat for the morning session if anyone is interested.

Jay I'm home right know but I'll pm you my cell. Have to run out and get somethings. The battery is charged up It hasn't sat still in days so I not worried. Tongue1 Jay the area of the river we are fishing is safe to navigate by boats, with no problems to worry about.
