Deer and 'shrooms

I was out looking for some 'shrooms on Tues. and heard what I thought was a squirrel above me. I stood still and this yearling appeared about 15 feet above me. I'm sure she heard/smelled me so I slowly took off my pack, pulled out my camera case, and making a great deal of noise extracted my camera, the yearling was still standing there.

I was down and bellow of her and she just couldn't figure out what I was. So I too a chance and stepped out from behind the saplings I was shaded by and got a nice profile shot. Note the "Bambi" spots still on the rear quarter:

That's what I thought also. Any one else think so? Is there a name for when deer still have spots ? Like "velvet" when the horns are like that.
