December Muzzleloader Hunt

Well I'm real excited becuase I just put in for Deer Tags in Illinois and booked my flight. I will be hunting the second firearms season with my Thompson Center Encore December 4-7 on a Private Farm in Knox County Illinois with my cousin (from wmass too). We got the land through a farmer he met at an NRA conference in Missouri. In 06 My cousin harvested a 171" B&C and last year got a 130" P&Y and his best friend out of the same stand got a 178" B&C 16 pointer with double drops (all with a bow) We are trying muzzleloader this year just to switch it up a bit. Awesome opportunity considering its all fair chase and we scout and hang our own stands before it starts. Just really excited and wanted to share it with some of my fellow hunters. CAN'T WAIT!!! MachineGun

I have a friend who's been fortunate to do a few hunts in Ill and Iowa recently - similar to what's you've described. He's from MA and said the hunting is so different. Deer everywhere, lots of big ones and deer acting like deer (feeding in fields, chasing does, grunting, snorting, fighting) - and actually doing it during daylight hours - not all at 2am like here in MA!!

Yeah i think he grew up near Justin on the other side of Michael Sears he's a funny guy and that was great buck. He's not going this year cuase he doesn't think he can top it. LOL

wow ill be headed out there nov 13-23 for last week of archery and first firearm season. but well be using muzzle loaders. I cant wait. its going to be insane. Good luck on your hunts. those pics get me pumped. well be driving. im sure ill have some pics to share and then youll have to watch it on the show
