All the rain lately has many mushrooms blooming. We went out looking for black trumpets (Rt. hand side of picture) but found many different variaties

The ones I used to eat in the 70's tasted like crap but the side effects weren't bad. Looks like you had a successful foray.

No TOE, they are not the "good" kind Eyeball Roller Not that there is anything wrong with that. The only ones I'm sure that are safe are the trumpets that are considerd choice and are good in just about any dish.

Great Photo! I see 4 edibles. The Trumpets of Death are the best tasting. If you find these mushrooms I'll positively identify them for you and help you cook them.

The purple shrooms are cortinarious iodes. I traded two lbs of black trumpets for four tickets to the Patriots opener on 9/7 on the 45 yard line row 8, yesterday. I have also traded for my 12 year old Scotch for emergency fishing situations. Soon the Trumpets of Death will be gone and the TOG season will be here!!!. There are never enough trumpets or togs. I have tried to get more maanglers out shrooming, Bigbear didn't call, Crazy Joe doesn't call Jackie T. doesn't but I have had good times with the Captain if you want all of us could go for BT's this weekend. Who else wants to go.

DON'T PICK WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW . SOME OF THE SPONGE BOTTOMS OR BOLETES ARE NOT EDIBLE.!!!! Some will make you very sick. Fisher16, Fullstrut has become a very good friend, although we have never met in person I have had a blast talking with him, he is learning and very good. One of the most interesting days I ever had was guiding him through the woods in the Berkshires for morels by cell phone. I was in South Carolina at the time. At one place I told him to walk 20' and stop. I said to him , now look down at your feet. Sure enough he was in shock when right at his feet there were morels. Then I said look 10' to your left sure enough , more morels. I only wish I had a recording of that moment.
