Met up with Turkeykilla and Mike this morning and we headed out for what would be my last day of Turkey Season due to the fact that im graduating tommorow. We went to the first location and set up on the lower side of the road for about 15 mins until the birds decided to gobble on the other side of the road. We made our way up there and began calling to the bird he replied a couple times but then the hens cut loose and he was silent.
We then moved to a different location as soon as we got out of the truck Turkeykilla clucked a few times on the slate call and a bird goobled about two hundred yards away. We moved up and sat down and called some more the bird gobbled in the same location, this went on for a while until we moved up some more. After that and about another hr of call and response but not moving any closer Mike and I decided to make a final push up the hill to locate the birds. After twenty yards of stealthy walking and 30 yards of belly crawl i was able to perch behind a tree where i saw this gobbler laying in the grass with a couple of hens. Pulled the gun up put the sights on him and bang it was all over. The Tom weighed 18lbs had a 10 inch beard 7/8" spurs and was shot in Hampshire County and Checked in a R+R sports where i was issued tag #3051
Me and the Bird and the trusty Mossberg 500
