Gotta love Mattawa!!!

Well, I spent the day at Lake Mattawa in Orange. I have never been there and decided to try something new. I read that along with sml mouth bass there is brown trout, rainbow trout, and salmon. So I started the afternoon trolling for some trout. After and hour and no bites I decided it was time to try for bass. I should have done that as soon as I got there because it was so much fun. All together I brought in 23 bass. All in the 1 to 2+ lb range. I also missed a ton. I didn't want to leave because I was having so much fun but I was hungry. I couldn't believe how many beds I saw throughout the afternoon...is it late for bass to still be on beds? I was also amazed how clear and weed free this lake is. I am so used to fishing through lilly pads and all kinds of aquatic weeds. It was a really fun afternoon on a new lake! Next time maybe I will have luck with a big brown or a salmon!

It is late but with the weather being cold and all the rain we have had it has cause many of the bass to back off the beds and wait to spawn. What were the water temps?

An educated guess would say around 60. Am looking into buying a digital scale and fish finder to modernize myself.
