National Fishing and Boating Week (NFBW) is an annual, national celebration of fishing and boating coordinated by RBFF. Coinciding with most state’s free fishing days, NFBW occurs the first full week of June - this year, June 3-11, 2006. Unfortunately the Massachusetts free fishing days have already passed they were June 3, and 4th. I have heard that Ct. is not having one this year.

Designed especially for youngsters, these events offer instruction on basic fishing techniques, but they also are a unique opportunity for kids to catch trout in a pond on the property.

Our Helping Wildlife series introduces families to nature and life around them, demonstrates how the sanctuary studies and protects wildlife with help from people of all ages, and teaches families how to steward wildlife in their own towns and backyards. Amphibians 101 June 11 / 1-3 pm Come meet some of your jumpy, wriggling, slithering, and slimy neighbors. This program is for anyone who wants to know more about our local frogs and salamanders, including visual and vocal identification, habitat, migration, and some simple things we can all do to help conserve them. Adults or families with kids of any age are welcome. Look for our very popular Rulers of the Meadow program in mid-fall, and learn more about monarch butterflies, and even help us tag them.
