in front of my dock in VT. I did not take the picture. I wasn't even there at the time. My neighbors all claim to have seen a mountain lion last year, it was spotted for 3 days before it was gone. They say it was hunting the canadien geese that were nesting on shore. I'm a sceptic because the picture is blurry and its the only picture anyone got. If I had seen it, I would have my video and camera waiting, I guess vermonters think differently!

I did speak with a EPO officer that was investigating the sighting and to my suprise he told me that there are several cougar families living in VT and its quite possible, there have been many sighting in the area!

What do you guys think about cougars living in New England???

Cougars in New England, sure, in the remote parts perhaps, but cougars in Mass, nah. Not yet at least, but there should still be regs in place for when they do eventually return. If the state waits until one shows up, then the media frenzy would make people paranoid and any protective measures would be shot down out of ignorant fear. Why not pave the way now? Any other opinions?

The photo is a Kitty cat. Typical deliberate blurring to try and fool people. The cat is relaxed and looking the other way it should not have been hard to get a clear picture. Obvious hoax....

There is said to be some evidence of cougars in New england. Here is one site with interesting information although I have no idea how accurate....

Every few years you hear about several cougar sightings in the Russel Montgomery area. I believe they could be around if only passing through. Remember it wasn't that long ago people said there were no moose in the state and now they're considering a season for them. I saw my first Mass. moose last Monday in a field off Rt 9 in Ware coming home from fishing Hardwick Pond.
