Anyone here ever fished there in a boat? I have always just shore fished there and I am going to bring the boat out there this weekend since its 5 min from my house. Any suggestions on different parts of the lake to try for some trout?
Matt
I fished it with my nephew about a month ago from his bass boat. We launched at the Quaboag Pond launch and went throught the channel to South Pond.
We were targeting bass not trout but there were quite a few boats that were trolling for trout. I guess as the water is woarming up trolling would pay off if you can get your offering deep enough.

I haven't fished South Pond since I was a kid so I have no knowledge of fishing it. Just remember it is designated as a Trophy Pond and you are only allowed 1 brown trout over 15" if I remember correctly.

At the pond only 1 of the fish you keep can be a brown and it must be at least 15". You can have a total of 3 trout kept, but only the one brown. I dont keep too many of the fish anyways I usually just throw them back.

I fish South pond several times a year, great trout pond. Most fish I get there are off points. I troll flatline most often with small floating Rapalas, spoons, and wooblers. I sometimes use lead core to go down 20 feets or so, big browns are always a possibility. Good luck
