View Full Version : New fuel problems?

I'm concerned about the relaxed federal gas standards and the resultant new ethanol blends. (Just bought a new Yamaha 4-stroke 15.) The marina says there is little to be done to prevent problems other than not storing it for any length of time. "Use it up as quickly as you can" was the advice. Any other thoughts? Also, which grade of gas do you folks use these days in a 4-stoke? I've always used high test in any engine other than my car. My marina says regular grade is just fine. Again...thoughts, opinions? THANKS :)

I was suprized , but when I bought my 25 horse 4 stroke in 2004, the dealer told me to use the LOWER octane fuel, and I have had no trouble at all

When I bought my Mercury 25 hp 4 stroke in 2002 the marina told me to use mid-grade. I've had no problems with my motor.
