Yesterday at around 9:30 am a very large bearded Turkey came into my yard with his girl, the female turkey stayed near the gated entrance witch was open, the male decided to come into the yard, soon he found himself between the opened gate and the corner, and he couldn't figure how to get back out. About 30 minutes goes by and this small brained bird is to dumb to realize he has to walk around the opened gate with is sticking out about 4 feet. I decide to grab my video camera and see if I can sneak up on him.
He was so focused on looking out the gate into the woods that I was able to get within about 10 feet before he saw me, he then started gobbling, but kept walking to the corner then back to the opened gate, I moved in closer, now within 5 feet, he kept doing the same thing. At this point I had to make a decision " am I in the mood to eat fresh Turkey tonight???Tongue1
Well I have no experience on how to prepare a wild turkey, so I decided I'm going to get closer and grab him for the camera. 4 feet, 3 feet, 2 feet, I reach out, then I see some talons that look like they could do some damage, along with that beak " my wife is on the deck telling me to leave it alone and grow up" I'm thinking my friends are going to love this video! C-mon how many people can say they've caught a wild turkey with their bare hands??????
Just as I reach for him he decides to go down the other fence line, I do touch him and manage 1 big feather. He gets into open ground and flys away, all of this is on video!!!
