What is an easy way to recoil the spring on the pull start of my ice auger. The cord broke the other morning and I had to play mechanic to try and get it retied. The recoiling spring came out and now its 10 times the size it was. Can you buy them prewound or is there a trick to recoiling them to get them back in the housing unit!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!Thumbsup

Did the spring break? If it didn't you should be able to re-secure it and rewind the tension(easier if you can remove the pull start mecanism from the motor head) Good luck.

I have removed the pull start mecanism. The spring uncoiled when I removed it. Still in one piece. Just really, really, hard to wind back up? Didn't know if there was a trick or easier way?

No trick just perseverence. Sorry bout that. Good luck after the 15th time you will probably be about ready to throw it accrost the garage.restrain yourself it isnt worth it. Keep a pile of tin cans in the corner and a golf ball to throw then get back to trying to rewind it.
It is a beeeeitcch to do but it can be done with much patience.
Been there...Done that!
