View Full Version : Favorite Fish
This should be interesting to see what other fisherman choose as their favorite catch to eat. I rarely keep fish to eat but will occasionaly keep trout or striped bass.
My favorite Fish to eat would probably have to be either haddock or striped bass. I love eating fried haddock with a little bit of lemon on the side.

King salmon fillets, grilled. No lemon, no salt & pepper, just grilled. Perfect.

Mine has to be Walleye. Leave the head and skin on, season it with a little butter, salt, and pepper wrap it in foil and throw it on the grill. When it's done peel off the foil (the skin comes with it) and just flake the meat off the bones. Can't beat it.

Well, I had a big fresh wolf fish filet last night, courtesy of my fishing partner Lou, and it was outstanding. I just rolled it in bread crumbs and pan fried it in a light oil. Funny stuff, it seems soft when it's raw but cooks up to a firm texture. They say you are what you eat and these things live on clams and lobsters - great tasting fish. I need to go get more.
Capt. Bob on the Islander (Rockport) said they got FIVE of these babies on Saturday. Dang!

Joe, you like bluefish? I have ate them before but cant really stand the dark spots where the fish oil seems to be. Ive tried everything from tomatoes to mayonaise on them but still dont really care for them that much.

Jay.I can cook them on the grill and it will make your taste buds want more.I got a recipe from a Cajun freind of mine. You cut that red stuff out and use it in a dry rub .(PM for ingredants)you get the grill RED hot and bush it with Olive Oil and the fish cooks quickly,(45 sec on each sde). And with some turnip greens( steamed with Shallots and wine wine), and dirty rice ,you got one hell on a Bluefish dinner! Jay another tip for blue fish is soak the fillet in milk for 8 hours or so," this will extract the oils" wrap in foil add some Tony Chechere's Creol seasoning along with butter , garlic, lemon, onion and spring bread crumbs on top...........Toss on the grill for 7 minutes.....enjoy.

Damn ,I'm hungry.( but when am I not!) LOL Nice tip Fishstory,Thats sounds good .I know of the milk thing, but also citris, like Lime or Lemons will help reduce the oily taste too! Thumbsup
I love milk though so that would be a waste of perfectly good milk lol. Ill seriosuly have to try out both ways once I go saltwater fishing again and bring home some blues. Thanks
