Well the morning started purffect, 28 deg and no wind. just before legal light had a little buck sniffing the deer sticks that I was burning and he hung around for a few. a little while later had a doe a two fawns come by but there was a little too much between me and her. kind of quiet for opening morning only a few shots at first light witch is odd because the town I hunt in is eastford/ashford has natchaug state forest that gets lots of pressure. At obout 7.45 I diside to pour a cup of java and you know what happens next I look over my shoulder and there is seven coming in, four fawns two does and a spike well what do you do with the coffee, I cant pour it in my pocket because my new radio is in there so I pour it on my leg. By this time the two skippers are RIGHT under my stand and I can here coffee dripping on the leaves below and the pack knows something is up, and me and them freeze for adleast five min and the only shot is at the fawns or the spike and it is only ninty min in to the start of the season and I dont want to burn the buck tag on him. well the deer gods where looking on me and the bigger of the two does walks in to my lane 40 yards broadside and the 06 barks and a nice doe goes down {129lb}. was going to hunt today but did not feel like geting wet. Many more days of ct rifle season to go.
