I hate when that happens. Sounds like you are on them good!

Those things happen, sounds like a great spot to hang a stand. I saw one small doe at 6:20 getting chased by a coyote, stopped 15 yards in front of me..I let her run off, she was pushing 60 pounds.
We need cold weather....

That is very easy to do in the waning monents of light. Those little branches dissapear first. It is a good idea to memorize them in your shooting lanes or eliminate them if at all possible.

Was hunting Reading, VT around 25 years ago. Grinning1
I was stalking up and old cart road around dusk heading out of the woods for the day. Saw a doe 30yds up the road moving to cross. Put the bow at full draw and waited for her to step into the old road. Wink1
I no sooner let the fly then I heard a very large "THWAK" that scared the hell out of me. WTF!!! There, 3 feet in front of me was the knocks on my arrow which had hit a 2" diameter sapling in the road. Yikes I never saw that tree. Notsure Probably the shortest flight for an arrow that anyone ever had! Arrow went all of 5 or 6 feet.Grinning1 Cry1
It turned out all right though. Nailed her the next day from an improvised tree stand 20 yards from where she crossed the day before. Beerchug

I did the same thing with the gun a few years back. Couldn't beleive I missed the shot till I really started to look then saw where the slug nicked a branch leaning over the run. Oh well you can't hit em all.
