View Full Version : Fuel Costs
How will the huge increase in prices affect others out there with fishing boats? Im curious as to what others will do now. Anyone think they will be using their boat less this year or just forget about the high costs in fuel? Question1

My 9.9hp Johnson uses very little gas. So I'm not worried about it.

No gas price will stop me from doing what I like best, fishing

I, for one, just downgraded from a 260hp in a 23'er to a 30hp 4-stroke in a 16'er...now I don't think twice about boating fuel.

Wink1 I use a 20 hp 2 stroke and a 9.9 4 stroke ,not to bad gas wise , what kills me is my tow vehicle a 2001 dodge 2500. Just today some local stations went up $.25 per gal , they all are at or over $3.00 per gal reg . There is no good reason for this other than greed, I can't afford to travel very far at that rate and my camp in Vt is off limits at 165 miles!!!Cry1Cry1Bash1Bash1 Fishing1Fishing1

That's the problem a lot of us will have. I have a 25 hp 4 stroke that uses hardly any gas. The problem is the $$$ to run the truck to pull it and my truck really isn't bad on gas. I have an 02 silverado and I average better than 16 mpg. I'm still going to go fishing whenever I can though.

Nothing will stop me from fishing. Although I have to pace myself, and work a little overtime here and there. I will be out there as much as I can when weather permitting.
