While trout fishing with a few friends, my buddy did the impossible! He caught a trout with a rooster tail, BUT the hook never touched the actual trout. The trout also had no prior fishing hook in its mouth or on its body or fishing line attached. He caught it about 40 feet from shore and reeled it in. It was the most amazing catch we have ever witnessed.
Before I tell you how, does anyone care to take a guess?

Fishing line got wrapped around the fish.

line was attached to the fish in any way. No hooks, weights, bobbers, lures....

Did the fishes teeth get stuck in the bucktail attached to the hook?
???? Just a guess but The trout followed the lure to shore then beached itself???? HAHAHA. So how did it really happen?

The fish was a tagged trout from the derby, there was a hole in the top of the tag that is a little smaller than the zero on your keyboard, the tag was on the top fin, so when he caught it we thought it was one of the 5-6 pounders, the fish was able to pull hard and gave him a great fight. Its truly a once in a lifetime catch, the chances of that happening have to be 1 in a billion! To be cranking in your line just as a tagged trout is swimming by and the hook going through such a small hole, makes me wonder if it has ever happened before the other day?

That is sure a lucky catch. I guess when your lucky your lucky, he should probably buy some of those Red Sox Lottery Tickets maybe he might just get lucky again, and win the life time season tickets. Beerchug
I've done that a hundred times. No big deal! HA HA!
That is really something! Won't see that happen again.
