I don't know where your from but Saunders Marina on Congamond sells Johnson motors. Try giving them a call if you live around the local area.

I found that it is a 1966.I can't belive it is that old the thing is in mint condition.I live in Granby,Ma.I was just wondering if anyone works on these things that may want to trade work for work.I work on motorcycles and quads.Mabey we can work a deal ,if not I'll pay.I really want to get this thing runnig.I also have a 1963 Evanrude Lark 4 that needs fixing I really want to get that running ASAP too.

You should try Livermores in Bernardsten Ma. I have a 9.9 hp Johnson (1974) that had the same issues you did. The old rubber gaskets in those motors break down and plug the carbs up allowing poor fuel flow! I had mine repaired...gaskets replaced, carbs cleaned, new water pump, new spark plugs all for $150. The thing runs great!!!

Tacoma is probably right. The old rubber gaskets would break down and dry out if it was sitting for a long time. If it's a 1966 the chemical composition of those old seals has come a long way to what they are made of today. If you can get the carb off and take it apart, then find a source for the same seals it is a relatively easy fix. Main problem would be finding the appropriate size seals for that old a motor. Taking it to a professional my be the better part of valor.

Before you spend any money.....get some carb cleaner.....just plop the entire thing in the cleaner and let it soak for a day or two then put it back on the motor and give it a try. Carbs are fussy and the littlest bit of dirt can make them quirky. This has work for me before.

Those motors are a piece of crap. I tell you what I'll do for you. I'll come pick it up and if you give me $10.00 for my gas, I'll haul it to the dump for you. LOL
