I test swam my first popper today, and it looked awesome! I weighted it toward the back and it had awesome action. All it needs is some paint now. I turned a few other ones in school today and I am gonna screw around and expiriment a little. Here is a pic of the one I tested today...

Yea, I made it in school but I want to buy a lathe for home. The way that looked in the water today, I know I will slay them in NH this summer on themBeerchug

Good job on making yourself a nice popper. I have made my own lures from time to time and its a great feeling when you catch a fish on something you've made. Hope it brings you many fish this spring/summer/fall.

I have made some myself and id recommend through wiring them if your planning on using it in the ocean or use a good hard wood and add a drop of glue to the threads on your screw eyes. the shape looks great and im sure will look even better painted. If you can get your hands on some back issues of fisherman magazine theres articles for making differant plugs like pencil poppers, danny style swinners and spook type plugs.
The best way to get the paint to stay on is to dip your plugs in a 50/50 mixture of boiled lindseed oil and paint thinner. Then wipe off the excess and let air dry for a few days then paint.
