Not really. I've lived here over 20 years and only fished it a hand full of times. If I go I prefer to fish for bass, trolling around all day with hardware down 90' trying to catch a laker isn't my style. I would like to catch a salmon though. My boat is a 16' Tracker with a Quabbin legal 25 hp 4 stroke. I have no knowledge of where to fish the Q. Are you familiar with the place? I see your from West Side I grew up there from 1960 to 79 when I got married. Graduated class of 74.

Back in the 70's I was a recruiter for the Coast Guard here in Springfield. Easy job with Vietnam and such going on. Long waithing lists to get in.

Anyway during that period had so much time off I was fishing the Lady Q 3-4 times a week. I used to know her like the back of my hand. I targeted the smallmouth primarily, and had my best luck with crayfish. Back then rainbows were in order early and late season. Personal best
6lb10oz rainbow, 5lb4oz small mouth.

Graduated Tech High class of 66.

Maybe we could hook up and I could show you what I used to do on the Q.

The story behind my screen name is when I lived in Ct. 3 other fellow fisherman and friends that I fished with gave ourselves that name pretty much out of a joke and its always stuck with us since. We even gave each other names I'm known as Rapid Rick because while everyone else was putting there waders on I was already fishing. LOL

my father was a recruiter for the coast gaurd back in the late 80's and retired in 94. also in spfld. he says it was an easy job then too. but getting to the position is a tough road, with being out at sea for long peroids of time. (uss plaintree)

The Coast Guard is proably the most selective of the branches of service for a general enlistment.

Yea.....I know about sea duty.....served onboard the High Endurance Cutters....USCGC Hamilton and USCGC Bibb....proably have at least a total of 3.5-4 years of my life floating on the ocean.

Thanks for the welcoming (burp) LOL. I have fished Quabbin in the past and caught some nice lakers. Live only 10 minutes away. Just joined the Quabbin Fishermen's Association so maybe that will get me more involved with Quabbin again.........Rick
