I just wanted to let everyone know that me and a couple of buddies will be running a weekly Big Fish Tournament out of the Oxbow and Chicopee ramps on the connecticut river next year. Probablly on Wednesday or Thursday evenings.
We will alternate between the 2 ramps as the water level permits. Start time will be 5:30 til sunset. I'm working on pulling the permits for this.

I'm looking for input here.

So far this is what I've come up with:

$10 entry fee. Heaviest largemouth and/or Heaviest Smallmouth. I would like to split the pot for each. Meaning $5 goes towards each. I also was tossing around doing something with a 3 fish weight. Maybe $5 towards the biggest fish and $5 towards the heavist 3 fish total. That way a 3 fish total someone can fish alone If noone catches anything we would roll it over to the next week. Last year we had about 8 people per week.

Also a 1 time fee from every participant of $10 with all moneies collected to go to the Heaviest Largie and Smallie caught for the year. I will keep a record of everyones weight for and send it out after the Tournament to all participants for review.

Let me know who would be interested.

Great idea, here's a few things to consider. There is and has been a 10.00 big fish tournie out of the Enfield section for over 10 years, it is at the ramp above the damn which will cover the same area as the chicopee section. Most guys tend to stay south of the Wesfield river So in your tournie, you may have guys wanting to get down south only to have others already fishing spots so I would have this one on Weds. if you can convince old Seabass to have the weigh in in his back yard, you don't have to have permits!

On Thurs, there has been one out of Congamond for like 20 years, but I am sure you could build one on the Oxbow! remember to keep it simple!!!!!! The split pot is nice so people can target their specialty. plus if you did it thurs, I might actually get to come!!!!!!!!

I like the idea...I would def. like to try to make some of them! I think GaryP has nailed it saying keep it simple. Show up, put your ten bucks in and head out on the river!

Great idea...hope it works out!

Those kinda tournaments are the best one runnings, toss the money to the money holder set a time to be back for weigh in. Fish a bunch of Congamuck tournies these past years have always had a good time and have come close to winning a few. But not hit by the luck side of the muck yet.

Skip Demaria runs it in Enfield, he also runs the CT river team trail.
