I was wondering (dangerous!); is there is a resource we can use to find out what is going on in our state with regards to learning seminars (promotional or otherwise) on any/all aspects of our hunting & fishing activities. For instance, this seminar I'm going down to in CT on pike fishing (Saturday) is fine, but doesn't MA offer anything like this? How do you find out about learning opportunities here in our own state? Or do they just not exist here? We have a striper derby coming up soon. I've rarely spent enough time to target that species to feel even a little comfortable, but I'll give it a whirl anyway, of course. I would much prefer learning a little bit ahead of time, so that I can have enough confidence that I'm at least in the ball park with what I'm doing in my boat - or from the shore. I would like to attend a class, which would help me focus my efforts toward having a good time at this event - at least to the point where I wouldn't be dragging a spawn bag full of mayflies about, in hopes of running into a suicidal fish or two Wink1 . For that matter, enough of you folks probably already know quite enough about striper fishing in our river to hold a small class somewhere, for the benefit of those wanting to learn more about a target species and/or techniques - especially just before an event such as this. Just to make it a bit more enjoyable for us neophites; not to give away your special "secrets"! And this could apply to turkey hunting, pike fishing or preparing a pig roast in your back yard! This may be too far reaching for this forum; I don't know.

Not much help on some of post , But I will give you this on MA Pike Fish stocks. M Hartley is the MA Pike and Tiger (in charge of big fish)Super for the state of MA. I have spoken with him and he's willing to listen to anglers. He will tell you where they put them and why. Make some calls to the State thats what they are there for. I've done it and it pays. As far as seminars the guys on this site know more about fishing MA than the Gov will ever know.PM any one on this site. Trial and failure. Just give it a soak and see what happens. 70 degs on Thursday I'm fishin for brood Salmon. X

We have talked about it a little from time to time about holding seminars on various topic's. I've held one for some of the members who were having troubles with posting photographs, and was pretty impressed with the turnout.

This is something I would like to see for members on MAanglers.com in the future its a good way to get out for the night or day and socialize and learn some new things. We will have to see where it goes from here. I'll be posting up some pointers over the course of the next few weeks on where to target, and what to use in the river for next months striper tourney. I'm sure if you use what I show and tell you'll have no problem in placing a couple of those striped bass over the rails of your rig.
