Anyone know any good sections on the Chicopee River? I live fairly close to there and am thinking about putting my canoe in, just wondering where would be a good place to start.

I was thinking about putting in above the dam by the Ludlow bridge and fishing upstream, or possibly finding someplace to put in below that.

Any ideas? I'd be going for large / small mouth bass, but I'm happy with any fish on my line and the sun in my faceFishing1

You can put in near the Indian Orchard/Wilbraham line, across the river from the Ludlow millls, and go upstream all the way to the dam near the Ludlow-northg Wilbraham bridge.

In Wilbraham, where rte. 20 follows the river on the curve, look for the small brook that enters the river, just before Maynard Rd. You can put in here and canoe up past the turnpike overpass all the way to Red Bridge.
The overpass is noisy, but two bends up it's like another world.

Of course with two vehicles it's all downstream...

Dana,

That section between the two dams and behind the ludlow mills. Is there anyplace to drop a trailered boat in? I know I can put in above the dam behind the tire shop and auto body shop.

Thanks

last time i went behind the tire place to drop my boat in there was a huge log right in the way, when i say big i mean the whole tree. made it very tough to get the boat in and i had to pull it up over the log with my truck to get it out. not sure if its still there, this was last year. didnt catch anything there either. looks like a prime spot with all the stumps and islands.

I don't know about launching a trailered boat, it's not a big spot, no concrete ramp. Maybe a small boat.
