Does Quabbin Resovoir allow row boats to be launched? I have a 16ft 50 hp boat and thats to big for the lake. So i wanted to take the metal row boat when the weather warms up sometime later in the spring. ;)

Unless the rules have changed the boat has to be a V-hull and at least 12' long. You can launch a flat bottom or canoe at the pottapaug section of gate 43. Why don't you bring a buddy and split the cost of renting a boat and motor for the day. I believe it is about $30.00 for the day. If you can borrow a smaller motor you can launch your bigger boat as long as you take the prop off the big motor.

Back in my younger days, I had to row in with a buddy because we ran out of gas. This was before I had my own boat, so the rental was my only way to get on the water in quabbin. That won't happen again. Quabbin is a big place and you have to be off the water at a certain time. So a motor and enough gas is a must if your fishing any of the big open water area's. I see a bunch of canoes on pond side of 43 and that would probably be the safest place to launch without any power.
