Do you guys know what the minimum requirements are for a boat to be safe offshore in normal weather? When I get a boat, I'd like it to be versatile enough to use offshore, inshore, and fresh water, and I don't have a whole lot of money. Would a boat like the ones they rent at quabbin be okay, or are they too small? Thanks guys.

offshore, i would say atleast a 21 foot boat. It wouldnt be quabin legal. If you got a nice center consol you could run off shore for tuna on calmer days, and stay inshore for stripers.
