Is the rut over???? I decided to post these pics here as a discussion on when the rut ends! I thought it was still rut but these photos could prove otherwise...

First pic you see a buck feeding and a doe coming over......second pic she is behind a tree and the third and fourth she is gone and he is still eating, notice the times!!! Could he just not be interested???

i agree, Rut seems like its just kick'n in. Look at the police reports, the more road kills there are, means the rut is going. We have been seeing new rubs and scrapes the past week.

I agree that the rut is just beginning, and will continue for another week or two. There is usually a second rut during black powder season some of the does that didn't go into season will go in then.

The cooler weather at night has definetly triggered the rut! It was slow but now has picked up...shotgun should be hot!!!

I hope you guys are right, So far I haven't been seeing many signs of a rut, hopefully its running a bit behind. The past few years I know we were in full rut at this time, this year the deer are acting a bit different and only showing up in the early morning hours behind my house. Last year I had 20 deer at my feeder at 3:45pm every day, I haven't seen one yet this year!

The weather has been extremely mild... I have a feeling this is affecting the deer!

tacoma, you are very right. My dad who just got back from maine said the deer up there arnt even thinking about the rut. People saw toads, snakes, and bee's. Usually its snowing up there. I hope the winter gets goin soon for some early ice.

earlier into bow season i had a few yellow jackets flying around landing on my bow. i get a little freaked out by bees in the fall!! they hurt much more later into the year. and I got hived last year by yellow jackets they were all in my close. it sucked... I pretty much ran out the woods naked! it wasnt too fun.

After a little walk in the woods today, I've noticed some new signs of rut! Also in the wildlife photo section I've posted a bunch of new pics that show new bucks in the area. Shotgun should be a good one this year!!!

I always thought it was the light levels that set off the rutting urge, but I could be wrong. I hope that it carries through the shotgun season, at least they'll be moving a little more than normal.
Maybe I can use those estrous cans to do something besides irrriate my wife - come on, you gotta admit those things are fun to turn over and over for hours on end (yes, my wife is very patient with me).
