Well just got back from my Cold Bay Alaska hunting trip for Ducks. We did pretty good had some weather issues that kept the Ducks numbers down but we scored or limits on Brant everytime we went out. Still we got our share the times we did go out for them both puddle and seaduck.
Did well on the Ptargaim as well never got our limits buta 20 birds a person that would be 120 birds for the 4 of us and the 2 guides. Most we shot was 36 in about an hour of hunting.
Saw some views that were beauful in the starkness of the the tundra to the high snow cap peaks of some real mountains.
Plenty of other wildlife saw 9 or ten Brown bear we saw 6 in one day at a lake we hunted we got an earlier than normal start still was dark when we hit the lake after that we never left that early for a hunt. We even had one start clawing at the window of the lodge we were staying at the Jeff grapped his gun another guy grapped the spotlight out the door we went scared him off. We Eagles pretty much every day seals and a boat full of sea otters also.
talked with a young guy that was doing a bear hunt on our way back home he told he didn't get one the only one he saw that was big enough that he wanted to shoot it was about 3 to 4 miles away just to far to try and get him. I said did you see any he told he saw between 150 to 200 brown bears during his week of hunting. You don't go walking around at night without some type of protection even in town everybody pretty much drove everywhere they went at night
I didn't do any fishing when I was there the other guys that I hunted with did some the day before I got there did pretty good of the town pier and even managed a few Salmon out of the near by stream.
some body asked why ducks in alaska I wanted to hunt in alaska I could afford this hunt and I like to hunt waterfowl my hunt was right aroound 3000 doesn't include airfare to coldbay and back the cost of the bear humnt we be in the10,000 to 15,000 dollar range rom what my guide Jeff told me and again that doesn't cover airfare. IN fact it cost me more for a trip from anchorage to cold bay the form bradley to anchorage. Why the cost of doing buisness and there is only one airline that flies there.. I will try and get some pics up in a few days if a can figure out how to do it. Anybody who is interested in doing a Cold Bay waterfowl hunt feel free to PM me about my trip.
