Hey guys. I used to be Gotero1. I changed my screenname because I decided it wasn't too smart to have my e-mail out there for everyone in the world to see. I'm still the same guys though. I wish changing my identity was as easy as changin the screen name, but such is life. I'd really like to get some more fishing in before the ice, but it's not afe to bring the canoe out in this cold water, so if anyone goes fishing and doesn't mind sharing their boat, please let me know. You provide the boat, I'll bring the coffee. I'll fish for anything, anytime, anywhere, with anyone. If you wouldn't mind having me with you, but don't have any plans much in advance, let me know via e-mail and I'll send you my phone number. That way, If you decide to go fishing you can give me a call and if I'm available I'll throw the gear in my car and drive out to meet you. Thanks a bunch, guys.

I too plan to continue to fish until we have ice, but the hitch is that I do not use the boat when the water is cold. If you waould want to shore fish, stream fish, etc then we could get together.

I'm in springfield, buck. Thom, the canoe would probably be safe if I wasn't obese. I've had some health problems, and the results ain't pretty. I was raised in the Boy Scouts, so I've always been comfortable in a canoe. Heck, I think my parents had me out in canoes before I could walk. In point of fact, thanks to those little kiddy backpacks they sell, I was hiking in the appalachians before I could walk! Thank god too, I don't know what I would have done with my life if my parents hadn't instilled a love of the outdoors in me at an early age. Christ, I might have done my homework instead of going fishing in high school, and then where would I be!???!!! The horror!

With water temps being what they are in the early spring and late fall, I have added stabilizers to my canoe for those seasons. Theyre easy to install and remove.....and they make the canoe virtually untippable. Finding yourself in the water this time of year could be the end of a great fishing career....and we all have families that depend on us ....They are adjustable, I keep mine about 8-12 inches from the gunwale but they can be placed as far as 3 feet as in the pic. They run about $200-250....small price to pay for safety....they just snap off for storage in the summer....Whenever my kids take the canoe, no matter what season, I insist they have the stabilizers on.

(http://www.castlecraft.org//canoe_stabilizer.htm)Canoe Stabilizers can fit anywhere along the canoe. Floats are available in two different styles.
