Good morning Jackie
My name is Doug and I also live in Granby and am a new member thanks to Knotreally. Yes Peppermill Pond is off route 9 just before you enter Ware on the left. I bellieve you fish from a canoe but I dont think that you can use any type of water craft on Peppermill. I would check with MDC before I drove out there as they control that body of water. Have good day and enjoy the rest of the season.

Thank you for the information. Welcome to this site, I fish from a kayak so I will call and finde out if I can use it at peppermill. This time of year the weather realy cuts down on my fishing. I would not think I would last too long if I flipped in the cold, life vest or not. Hope to meet you soon.

I forgot to mention that it is a very quiet place as there are no camps or homes on the shores. There are area's that one can wade out long distences and enjoy some neat fly fishing. If you find that you are alowed to use your kayak there it will be a wonderful place for you to enjoy. I have fished there for well over 50 years and have never seen a water craft out there. There used to be a sporting club that stocked it every year along with the state. I think it was called the Aspen Rod and Gun but I am not sure if it still in existence. At any point the state always kept it well stocked. Have a good evening.

Since it's in Quabbin Reservation property I don't think you can use a kayak. It's on the right as you head from Ware west on rte 9 towards Belchertown, just before the first entrance into Quabbin park, the one nearest Goodnough Dike.

You can kayak on the Swift River, a few miles further. Go past the second Quabbin entrance, cross the river, (under repair, there's a temporary traffic light) turn left on East Street, the road to the hatchery and wildlife office. Follow to the T intersection, about two miles, go left, turn right into the parking/launch area.

its on the left hand side and you can see it from the road. you will not mistake it for Quabbin. you might have to lift your yak over the gaurdrail though, unless it fits under. its maybe a mile or two after the quabbin entrance going into ware from belchortown

the bigger question is "is the fishing good and what species? Jackie, I would love to give you tons of small kayak ponds that are loaded with fish, but I am a strict Catch and Release and I know you fish for food for the pets so, sorry!

Gary I keep trout and perch over 11" I would keep a salmon. On fridays I will keep crappie and any fish that gets damaged gills. I do not fish to feed my pets. The pickerel I kept was bleeding I ate some ,the less boney part and gave the boney parts to my cat. Waste not want not. If I kept all my keepable fish I would not be eating anything but fish. So dont tell me about the great kayak ponds, but just don't tell me you won't tell me ok.

sorry, no bash intended, I have been on many internet sites since the early 90's and have seen ponds get fished out by people who eat everything they catch and got all their info from the net. you gotta protect what little resources we have out there. Now I only hope the DEP posts notices all over the CT river ever since that report that said not to eat ANY fish there. I firmly believe that meat fisherman can and do lessen the population of the lakes and rivers, especially ice fisherman. I am not talking about someone who eats a few here and there but the ones that take 100+ crappie and perch per trip out of places like the oxbow and such. I have seen it happen. I have also seen one of my fav walleye holes get discovered by meat fisherman and it is next to a wardens home, he constantly tells me of fish in the 6-9 lb range being taken out week after week. I have seen 2 6's and a 7 on a stringer! Most people don't even know that those fish exist in the river and if they knew that you could get to them from shore they would be fished out in no time. you see, they are only in these areas during the prespawn and a good meat fisherman could and do kill alot of trophy fish each year, it makes me sick! So I am glad that you are only taking what you eat and the occasional fish that dies. I appreciate that! If they would let us vote for C and R season all winter I would vote for that in an instant!
