I'll be out there on Sunday with Yote probably having the best day in the last couple of months, it is incredible how good the fishing can be when the water goes high in Sept. I pray every year for the remnants of any hurricane to do exactly what this one does, go north into Vt and dump loads of rain in the river. Although Sunday may be too early for the fish to adjust to high water,if it goes way up and stays that way for a week, the fishing next weekend will be phenomanal!

Good luck out on the river this weekend. Hopefully they will be where you think they are. The guage at Montague City went from about 2,000 ft last Friday to 37,500 and climbing this afternoon and the pool height from about 6' to 18' plus so you better make sure your trolling motor batteries are fully charged.

Djod, be very careful in that section of the river, when you get there the ramp may be too low to launch, be sure not to let your trailer tires go over the edge of the bottom of the ramp, there is enough of a drop to hang up your wheels. the river is so high, the **** is opened which lowers Bartons, but once you get up to the french king bridge, be prepared for rolling 3-4 ft waves as the narrows back up the water. Norse, I have caught fish as high as 29ft on the montague gauge and 55k cfs!. that is when the houses at the Oxbow are under water and you can touch the old RR bridge going out of the Oxbow without standing up! Where we are goin at Bellows falls the river is at 60k cfs, I have done real well at 45-50k but we'll see.... I have a back up lake if it is too crazy

here is a link to my personal preference river monitoring site, the water is supposed to peak today and drop fast tomorrow, hopefully 24 hours will give the fish time enough to move to their high water holding areas.

From thr till this moment I have got 4.90 inches!!

The closest official rain gauge is at a water treatment plant and last week Wednesday it was greater than that. I was sitting on my porch and I had a de ja vue that I had been here before. then it hit me, the gorge in Halifax, Vt, sitting under the upper waterfall. The local rain gauge came in with 26 inches for the storm. If I didn't see it, I wouldn't believe it. I still think about it and laugh.
