Went out today at 3:45, at 5:00 PM i start to hear some brushbraknig behind me, about 70 yards away, i didnt see a thing. Then at around 5:30 i look to my right, where i have been looking the whole time, and theres this buck ( i thought was a doe) standing out at 60 yards. It starts to walk away, so i give it a grunt with the grunt call and turn it around. Its walking down the trail right towards my stand, i draw when its behind a big pine tree, didnt see me draw! awsome, this deer is mine. I pick my opening, and about 1 minute after i draw, it steps in it, quartering shot at 15 yards! Its walking pretty good so i give it a little "burp" to stop it, it worked! stops right in the opening Bam, nail it right in the shoulder, a little high. Shot it at 5:39 pm. We looked and looked for blood, with very little to find, untill we see some flaslights comign through the woods, Its some hunting buddies who arrowd a 4 pointer and stumbles across my deer! Turns out it was a button buck, I wanted a doe,and if i had known it was a button buck i wouldnt have taken it. But second day hunting this season and i have my second Buck. Thumbsup
We didnt end up finding the other 4 pointer, but we will probably find it tmmrw.
The best part about the whole thing, they gutted it for us! Laughing1 Punched through its shoulder and through the ribs into some important organs

Does this mean i am in first for the Big buck contest? lolWhat1
Getting it tagged and weighed tmmrw. Not a huge deer, But i thought it was a doe, and it turned out to be a little button buck. I have a picture of a Button buck still in spots, i wonder if its the same deer?
(Sry for any spelling or grammer mistakes)

thanks yote, we are tryn to manage the deer back behind the house. We just found out the the farm it backs up to has a guy that hunts for the " Nusence" deer. We found out he may have taken as much as 10 deer last year alone! Theres a ton back there still, but if he wasnt back there, it could be even better.

Yea Jeff...I didn't hunt MA until three years ago...and I have taken a deer every year I have hunted in MA...so I am batting a thousand for MA.....you haven't put the long hours I have in tree stands in below 0 weather and still get skunked, Maine is alot different than hunting around here. You certainly see alot of der around here, but remember that the deer densities up north are a fraction of what we have here.....I am ok with my lack of success though, I enjoy the hunt and it just makes me appreciate a harvest all the more......I do things the Hard way...the tredneck way...
As for the 10 deer shot back there, I am sure it's true as I saw a couple carcasses on the farm last year, oh well.....

yea, what ya gonna do? I hope one of us gets a beauty outta there this year, it would be reassuring that they are still there, I am not sure what he had shot last year, be it does or bucks, but I did see 3 or 4 doe carcasses.
