I was jus trying to expand West next year, and was putting together a list of places to hit for Pike...and was curious about some of the water out that way. Is my best bet to look up the ponds from the state that have Pike, or maybe you guys have couple places (no secrets spots or anything Tongue1 )...i fish often for Pike, but am looking for a trophy fish...13lbs is my largest so far...looking for 15-20lb monster
thanks in advance

camp at sweet water forest campground on the cape. Fish on the lake that the camp site surrounds. There are a lot of Northern Pike in there a lot and they aren't too fussy about lures there must be some big old boys in there too I caught quite a few 29 to 34 inches and it was awesome. I won't soon forget it. Call ahead and ask what you can launch from there as I was using one of their canoes.

The Ct. River holds some impressive Pike and I am sure you are well aware of that. I think the biggest I saw this season was a 20lber caught just south of the Massachusetts line.
If you want to hook up sometime and have a Ct. License I know of a place where we can play with those toothy critters.

Try Onota Lake and Pontusooc Lake over in the Berkshires. Not only are there record Pike but the State record Tiger Musky is from that area!!!

I have to agree with Tacoma. Onota is tops in the western end of the state. Took a 20.5 there in June of '84, trolling a Harrasser. Have taken many there of lesser size as well. The CT. River up around W. Spfld. has a decent population, as well as the Oxbow above the damn. I've fished Buel several times but never got anything more than hammer handles. But I have heard of some very large ones taken there, during the frozen water period.

thanks guys good info...i fish the sudbury river hard all year, and have done extremely well, the only problem is lack of deep water, means trophy fish are rare...i'm defintely going to be exploring the western part of the state...thanks again, much appreciated information

Yup, The River holds some nice pike.
My best from last year:

That's gotta be north of Springfield area? Not any places that I know around here where my fat arse would venture onto the river itself. Oxbow maybe?

Interesting that no one mentioned Sturbridge for great Pike fishing. Not sure if it is considered a reservoir or just a lake. Some huge Pike taken out og there.
And yes...my second vote is Lake Onata in Pittsfield.
