As some of you know I'm currently stationed down here in sunny FL at NATTC naval base. I'm only about 3 miles from pensacola beach, those three miles being the bay. On a really clear day I can see across. This beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen, the sand looks lllike sugar its so white. And the water is krystal clear, wellll as of last night the oil finally made it ashore. Its such a shame to see this beautiful beach covered in oil, and the water a murky brown color. The marine life is gone, haven't caught a single fish in two weeks, seeing the fishing industry at pensacola fish market go from hundreds of boats to a ghost port is a terrible thing, a lot of local resturants that prided their self on serving only local harvest to help keepp the fishing industry alive shut down because there is no fish, shrimp, or crab.
The beach was a huge source of income for the city of pcola now its shut down for the remainder of the season... not to mention a niice source to meet some hot pcola beach beach chicks. I hope they get this mess fixed asap
What BP has done is discusting! It will take years to clean up the mess.

There's still oil all over and in the ground from the Exxon Valdez and that was only like 250000 gallons not millions, That happened in the 80"S
I doubt this will ever be cleaned up 100%
It's a shame that they will be able to get away with ruining so many lives, and they will still be rich when it's all said and done.

The whole upper gulf is DEAD, the deadly gasses seeping out is far worse than the oil, benzene, hydrchloric acid and several other gasses are removing ALL the oxygen from the water and these gasses are going to kill people too, peoples kidneys and brain functions will shut down as well as kids developing lukemia and other illnesses from breathing in the toxic air. My advice is to get out of there before you get sick.
Oh and don't think we are immune up here, hurricane winds will bring these gasses up the eastern seaboard.Yuck1

It is a **** shame, I've been watching this since the beginning closely. Its like a volcano eruption, or something similiar. I just don't like all the BS they said to begin with first it was a 1,000 gallons a day had shady camera's on the well. Know something like almost 70 days into it they are estimating 100,000 gallons a day have been dumping into the gulf.
Gotta agree with smoothdrag, this is the killer to the gulf.

I heard something on the news last night..that this could cause some type of bacteria bloom in the water and kill off any existing marine life in the gulf...they say the Gulf has had small ones ..but with the oil present it may cause it to fully explode and make the gulf like a dead sea.....
It would ruin any fishing industry there..for ever...the oyster and shrimp industry is dead now....lots and lots without jobs now....
also with any tropical depressions or storms it can effect the gulf stream and suck the oil up along the east coast...

Some of my family is in the process of moving out of ''paradise'' before there is a mass evac and marshall law takes over. They have a beautiful home, a thriving business, kids in good schools with good friends, all of that is ending asap before things get real bad, the shiit is literally going to hit the fan sometime in the next few months or sooner.
I guess i should be thankful that i got to enjoy the gulf all these years before it got ruined, some people have never been there and sad to say never will.
Anyone that wants to enjoy fla should go to the keys NOW before it's damaged for good.

Watched a video last night on pods of dolphins dieing in the gulf due to injesting the oil. There was a pod of about 30, and the majority were dead and the rest were near death.
I've had the fortune to swim with wild dolphins on many occasions, it is disturbing to watch the life get sucked outta of the gulf. One of the guys from CTfisherman is a charter captain down there, he's working for BP as a clean up guy now, and not fishing.

The oil spill is a situation....Marine life and also Birds and Mammals are dying off fast....the oil has made a major impact on the food sources for the animals...they eat contaminated food and ingest the oil and then die off...or just covered in it and die off...
The sad part is lots of us older people will not see the come back of the Gulf as it will take many years to come back...some may never come back due the sea floor covered in oil and shellfish may never be able to populate again...
