Rivernut and I fished the first tourney on the Oxbow section yesterday in the pouring rain and thunder. The fish were on all over the place. we caught pre spawn and spawning fish for a total weight for 5 smallies 16.84. We caught somehwere betwteen 30-40 fish. As it was raining, and I just got a new Droid camera, I wasn't about to bring it out so no picts here today but we were culling 3 lb fish all day!.
2nd was Smalliehunter by himself with an impressive bag of 16.68. 3rd was Dave M with 15.8 or something like that and he had lunker of 4.18. there were 3 largies also brought in over 5 lbs including a lunker of 6.27 from the bow. ( I have never caught a 6+ in there).
Also saw Seabass with his bro, he is doing well. Today I got to figure out how to upload videos and picts directly, I think I will have my 11 year old show me! I created a new youtube acct called "the cursed fisherman" Now that I have combination phone/camcorder/camera I am going to try to have some fun with it! look for future videos!

Oh so close but yet so far.... No partner sucked in a way "Get the Net!!!" Oh wait I gotta do both..... I caught about 20 fish and was culling 3# fish around 11am. Most were on beds or in Bedding areas. I Had found some big ones with 45min left in heavy current in some BIG ROCKS laid my boat on the shore rubbing the rocks hooked into a monster on a jerk bait but when your boat is on the shore and you gotta get the net it means that the fish wins.... OH well next time......2nd place is nice. (1st loser) Oh well....
Oh yeah did it rain or what.....

Lol- what's to report. 4-3 but I got lunker. Kind of hard to fish in 35+ winds...
he did break out some old school tactics but I countered with a fancy jighead. I wish I had a jetboat this time of year, I'd also be culling 3 lb'ers early. Leave the poor bedding fish alone! Especially the day before Mother's Day, you guys should be ashamed.

Don't really think you needed a JET BOAT this week end on the river. It was plenty high enough to make it up to the rock dam

Capt, competitive fishing separates the men from the boys! just like I think running around the woods collecting fungus to eat is weird, when you can go to Mickey D's drive through!! ...Uh, yeh, could I order some fiddleheads with a side of shrooms..."LOL, we all have our vices!!! Dave, we did not need a jet boat yesterday, the fish were hitting every where a regular boat could go. there were 12 boats, first place paid $650.00!

You're confusing Mother's Day with Father's Day since it's the males that guard the nest. No legit scientific arguement against it. Look at deer season - during the rut, turkey season during mating season, and we release ours. There is an abundance of bass in the river, more than it can sustain because they lay hundreds or thousands of eggs. The "dads" get relieved of child care to spend the day in a bass boat, a win-win scenario! And I bought nice mother's day gifts for my wife and also for my mother, then went out for dinner with fishing money. So no, no guilt!
