went to quabbin today. right from the start i knew this was going to be a little rougher then the weather stating 5-10 mph winds. this is how it started out.

when i got off the water at 1:00 there were 2-3' swells and the wind was rough. if you took your hand off the wheel the wind would spin you. no way going out into the channel on a day like today or yesterday. within the first couple of hours most of the boats had left. there were about 15 trailors in the lot when i got there and when i got off there were 5. luck on my side as soon as i launched i had a hit off the lead line which i set out 8 colors and i was in 60' of water which was reading 65 degrees on the surface. i had just seen a bait ball on the bottom when the lead got hit. bringing it to net it measured at 22 1/2" so after reviving it a little it was released.

this is the bait ball i was talking about and at the same time i had this spot logged into my garmin 12 gps. the gps saved the day because with the wind so bad in the main body of quabbin i was able to back track the rest of the day and find the same area with the different bait balls the kept changing forms as it got larger or smaller as it would split up.

on the right is my gps and you can see my paths as i'm circleing and staying in the same area for the bait. you can also see a little diamond which designates the boat. by doing this and staying in the calmer water i was able to get 2 more lakers, another on the lead and one on the downrigger set at 30' over 60' bottom. i had another hit but as i grab the rod it got off.
