I had to go to the R.M.V in Springfield today to replace the quad plate i lostEyeball Roller While i was down that way might as will get some shiners .Pond one the shore line was a little iffy but there was a guy out there already. He wasn't doing all that great but i gave it a shot for one hour and only got 5 shiners.Stopped at pond 2 on a golf course and put a trap in while i went and jigged pond 3.Pond three produced pretty good for the 3 1/2 hours i was there got about 3 dozen

Went and got the trap and there was at least forty 1 inch shiners in it just the right size for crappies and perch.

So it turned out to be a productive day.OH on both ponds the shore line was open but safe and the ice in them was already starting to crystallize

first is a pond with shiners.I use very tiny hooks with a small round ball of bread just on the tip of the hook .you miss more then you catch but what the heck your out of the house doing something.

Never trapped shiners before, be a $ saver for us. Usually fisher 16 buys the bait and I get the lunch. How do you trap them?

Nice jod on getting bait Thumbsup . I've been trapping shiners for several years now. You can't beat it when it's free. By doing so it make icefishing the most economical form of fighing I do. Here's what the tanks looked like at the begining of the season. There's over 1000 in the tanks. http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk453/fishgill-photo/Baittanks.jpg Currently there's about 50 dozen left.

do you sell them?

No I don't sell them. I've got a couple of friends that come by and grab a few. They usually donate $3.00 a dozen if they got it. But when we do go fishing no one has to buy any bait.Grinning1

Sweet haul I used to fish for them at the SH Sportsmans club pond when I was a kid. Same deal a really small hook but I tipped it with a small piece of worm also used to catch em with an umbrella net.
