Very sad, what a tragedy. IMO you can never be too safe and it perplexes me. I've seen a couple guys drive their car straight onto Metacomet with early ice, I was like wtf?? It's one thing if grown ups decide to do this stuff but I would never take my kids onto the ice in any heavy vehicle. Walking on the ice is a part of it for me.

Very sad .Things can happen quickly in the outdoors especially on the ice.

I fear it's a process of "natural selection". My Dad always told me, "you have to know your limitations." Apparently a lot of folks don't.
