Get a 2" chisel and weld it to a piece of black iron pipe and your al set.

make one like i did. 3/4 300 stainless, welded a little hard face to the tip so it wont dull. its the Cadillac of ice chippers.

I have some homemade ones. square tube stock with a tee handle, about 4'-5' tall, hole in the top for a rope to wrap around your wrist, and a angled blade on the bottom. I work in Springfield and can bring them to work with me.
