Congrats Sledneck your the first of many to come. It was a difficult choice keep at it guys. This report will run on top from September 23, 2006 till September 30, 2006 at which time a new winner will be chosen.
Well the conditions were poor for a saltwater albie hunt, so I decided to head west for the swift...Got there around 2:30PM to find a full lot. I was expecting huge crowds (at Y pool) everywhere but was surpised to find them all strategically placed along the river, alot of poeple must have been down river thinking the same thing I was. So I decided to make the trek to Y pool and give it a shot. I got there, and there wer a few people spread out on both sides, but I was able to fish where the bubbler brook feeds in. I fished for about 30 minutes w/ no success. Tried alot of flies. I then tied on a 22 BWO and a 26 BWO casing..just a light green nymph on 8x tippet. I hooked a 20" rainbow and had to play him out a bit longer than I like to given 8x...so I didn't wanna take a pic because he was pretty tired. I noticed the fish were taking really small stuff so I put some wax on my nyph to fish it dry, this seemed to be the magic touch. I hooked a 17" bow and he got outta the net before I could snap a pic. I saw one other guy take a fish, and he had on a 32, good luck w/ that!!About an hour later after several interested fish gave my presentation a thorough exam, I landed this 18" rainbow and was lucky enought to get this picture...

about a half hour later I hooked a salmon on a 20 cdc caddis, the fish pput on a nice show for a family watching us fish. That fish was airborn more than he was in the water. He was only 17" though and skinny like an eel. He jumped outta the net befora I could snap a pic, so I said to hell with trying to get any pics. I took a nice fat 18" brookie after that fish, on a 22 brown nymph in the film. All other fish were small brookies.
One thing I decided is that I am not using a 6wt ever again at the Swift, more like a slow action 4 or 5wt. The rod I had was way too much for 8x tippet w/ tiny flies. I didn't have too much a problem of breaking tippet on fish, but pulling the tiny hooks through the soft fleshed mouths was a problem...
Here are some cool scenery pictures I WAS able to take...
