If they are saying it will cost me 80.00$ next year to fish in CT. they can have it..I will not pay that for fishing there...I can get a Maine and VT license for a few bucks more.....then to top it off 60.00 to fish the ocean also...

They must be all smoking crack in the statehouse there...because they lost thier minds

Al-53 from what I have heard most if not all the new england states are going to honor the saltwater fishing lic. So If you have one in Ma Ct Ri NH and Maine you should be go to go in any of the other atates this isn't set in stone yet but all indictors seem that is the way they are going. THomT

I think Yote Buster hit the nail on the head. It's all about the money. They can blather on about how the increases are needed to maintain a high quality fishery but the truth is that money will eventually be folded into the general fund and screw the fishery. Also, the salt water fees bug the heck out of me. It's one thing to charge me for the fish the state stocks, it's something totally different to charge me for the fish God stocks.

The only ones that have to pay more are the paying, lawabiding citizens....government will never give up on the fees or taxation....time for a change? Question1

Wow, twice in ine year we agree on somethingYikes If people stuck togther and boycotted fishing/hunting licenses, the fee would change..We have the power to do that, now if w could actually do it.. I for one will be poucher in Ct next year, hell the fee is $70 if I get caught and with 11 DEP on staff, I'll take me chances... Also don't have the thought process of well its only in CT, I just won't fish there anymore, because monkey see monkey do, and teh following year it WILL happen to us here...

$80 to freshwater fish in CT is ridiculous. The fishing here just isn't that good. I suspect the out of State Mass license will be increasing as well.

I have to agree with Fishstory, although I wouldn't call it poaching. It's called being a conscientious objector... or something like that. I have to say I just don't get the logic. Do they assume everybody will just pay? Do they assume they will lose a certain percentage of people who participate? Same amount of money, less people using the resource? Twisted... I've gotten a CT freshwater license for years. I don't think I'll do that this winter. I can afford it, I just don't think I'll do it. As far as the salt, I'm hoping that at least Mass comes up with one and it's reciprocal. That I'd consider. But yeah, I'm having the same thought. I don't keep short fish, I don't keep over my limit, I don't fish out of season, I don't use undersized porgies for bait, etc... But go ahead, catch me, fine me. It'll be the last money CT ever gets from me.

Its also the local bait + tackle shops, mom+ pop packys, local restraunts that'll lose, not counting the tax dough Ct. will lose out on what i pick up, i'll just mail order from Cabelas instead of stopping by on the way thru

Any increase in taxes and fees doesn't anything for the economy....it just lines the government coffers, destroys the local economy, makes it more difficult for the average Joe to do things, turns some folks into outlaws and in the long run actually decreases the amount of money actually going to the government.

Liberal politicos just don't get it! Wish we had a finger smiley I could add.
