hello all
my name is walter and im a avidd fisherman. i want too thank my good buddys ralph, roy and frank for tellin g me about this sight. i have read some reports and i have to say you fellas seem like some mitey nice folks.
i got out with anohter old buddy of mine, (we used to play cards down at the lodge back in the 70's) and having wet a line in a while. hip replacements take a wile to heel and alll but anyway we got out finally and my buddy joe brought some shinners and i brought the worms. we set up at this old honey hole of ours that we have known about for quite some time. we put in an honest 2 hours and did not catch a thing. i think it is save to say that the fishing season has pretty much come to a close and it may be time to break out the bowling shoes. i am very excited to use my new ball that my grandchildren bought me for my birthday. see you fellas in the spring
ps.. i have to tell you fellas i did have a heck of a year.. for the few times idid get out i probably caught about 100 bass. several in the 8 and 9 pound range (no scale but pretty good at juging bass with my eye)

Walter, First off welcome to the site.....This site has a great group of guys and girls, but one thing you will learn as you get going on it is this: A 8-9 pound bass claim needs to have a pic! The reason is many hardcore Bass fisherman, fish New England there whole lives and don't see fish like that! Arlow is a perfect example Laughing1 . I've only had one over 8 and it was in a private pond a long time ago, although I did see a very big one " but I won't get into that right NOW Tongue1 "
This is my best since 1988 and it was caught this past August and was exactly 6 pounds!

Welcome to the site, and hope to see some of those fish your catching. I used to fish some private ponds that grew some really big bass myself but since that time the property has switched hands and has been posted. Nice fish fishstory I remember that one.

thank you for the warm welcome fella's. i feel that this site has something many of the other newengland fishin' sites do not have. there is one site that i won't mention the name of where they go on and on about an individual who constantly boozes it up all day and hazing the poor guy becomes sport and then there is this carp fishing fella... seems to know his stuff about carpin but boy what a foul moth... and then there's this other kid who goes by the name of breslin. i have never read such filth in all my 70 some odd years. he thinks he just so funny but ill tell you. if i could get that kid on the water and teach him a thing or two about real fishing i think it may humble him up a bit... again thanks guys

Yup your right! I have never seen a bass in person over 7 pounds. My biggest ever is 6 pounds 7 ounces. To claim to catch several 8's and 9's in "only a few outings is simply outlandish. Notsure No scale, no picture, no friggin way...........

well i have never been one to take pictures of my own fish... when i started fishing nobody could afford their own camera. we just learned to approxiamate the weights and i have gotten pretty good at it over the years. like bowling... i got my average up to 120 last year during league play and plan on inching closer to the 125 mark this year. i hope my back holds out.

Walt please buy a camera and or a scale, 8 and 9 pound bass? Would love to see a picture of even one of them. Any measurements? Know a lot of people who claim "no scale but pretty good at juging bass with my eye", them are shocked when their 8-9 pounders weigh in at a lot less.
That other site has a ton of real big bass anglers, pictures, measurements and just a ton of big bass caught. You might want to go there and pick some of their brains.

This is getting funnier every post. There are few people warped enough to perpetrate this. I'm not sure yet but the list has grown a little bit.
PS..... Let me know when your average breaks 200 and we can play for a few bucks if you want.......

i have been private messaged from some fella from that other site. he claims that this breslin kid really wants me to have a fish off with him and has also made some comments which makes me alittle sore so i tell you other site guys what. without no hurt feelings you tell this breslin fella to name the pond bank, ill bring the shinner or worms (his choice) and we will see how will be shining hows boots at the end of the contest.
my wife don't let me bet real money but you can count on me putting a fishin licking on that boy that he won't soon forget for this fine site massanger.com and also for my fellow 70 somethings who feel the same way.....

An 8-9 pound bass will have to measure 25" or more in this area. I caught one about 10 years ago that was 25 1/2" long and I estimated it to be around 8 lbs(didn't have the scale that day) Caught one the next week in the same pond about 23 1/2" and only half the girth and that one weighed 4.8 lbs on a berkley digital scale. For someone to be catching bass that size regularly is doing something I haven't figured out in 45 years of fishing or has one heck of a honey hole.

Thanks for moving the post Fishstory. Walter please keep in mind we have alot of members that like to see other members back up there claims especially when your stating that you've caught a bunch of bass in the 8lb class this season. If you have then good for you. You are doing something right that some of us haven't yet figured out yet. Or you have a private lake stocked with some heavy fish. This is not going to continue on at this point and I have decided to close this thread because I feel like everyone has said enough and these types of thread can only go down hill from here.
All in all keep catching those fish pick up a cheap digital camera. They are priceless. As most know I enjoy reading reports with alot of pics with fish or no fish, scenery photos. Hope to see one of those big bass soon.
