As I sit here at the computer, I can see two squirrels jumping around in my fig tree. They don't know it yet, but they just signed there death warrant. Figs are just starting to fatten up & will be ready to eat in September. They like to take a bite out of each one to taste them. Swear1
I'll be looking for a good squirrel recipe VERY soon. MachineGun

Yes. Neighbors get a little nervous when I use bigger stuff.
Figs picked & eaten within minutes are delicious!!!!! Nothing like the dried packaged stuff or the "fresh picked" store bought ones. The flavor & texture start to change almost immediately after picking. Cry1

COUNTRY STYLE SQUIRREL
<hr noshade="noshade"><!----><!--COUNTRY STYLE SQUIRREL-->2 squirrels, cleaned and dressing
Salt
Pepper
Flour to dredge
Butter
Water
Cut squirrel into serving pieces. Shake in a paper bag containing flour, salt and pepper. Dredge well. Fry in butter in skillet until golden brown. Remove squirrel from skillet, and pour off all grease, except a tablespoon. Add water and bring to a boil. My Dad, Ren Berra, used about a cup-and-a-half of water. He added two or three cloves of crushed garlic to the water. Return squirrel to skillet. Turn on low heat. Cover and cook about 1 hour or until the meat leaves the bone. Ren Berra hunted to eat the game. He was a crack shot and a great cook!

I used to just cut the legs off them, pan fry them to cook them and throw them in a pot of spaghetti sauce and eat them like a chicken leg.

Negative. Open all year long when they're eating my stuff. If they want to eat figs, peaches, etc. let them go plant & fertilize their own trees. Eyeball Roller
