View Full Version : Boat washing ?
I went out fishing last night, i got up this morning to take the boat to wash it. Just as i was finishing up an EPO stoped At the do it your self car wash, and informed me that I could no longer wash my boat there because of the Zebra Mussels. I now must clean the boat at home. Then he said to me that the presser wash was not good for the boat ot trailer. have any body heard of their new rule.

that sounds like a load of bull, what are the mussels going to live in the sewers now and choke out all the alligators food? if anything, they would clean it up! Maybe there is something i am not aware of but that seems proposterous, what happens if you swim, do you have to burn your bikini or can you not wash that in a washer too? I would of asked the EPO to prove with print, otherwise beat it. As far as the boat washing being no good, which is it, wash dont wash, what do they want? your trying to good and he tells you its no good, sounds like a dope to me, he should be happy your making an effort
I just got off the phone from the EPO office in Boston , they Asked what his badge # was. I dont know, I told them but how many are in this area. they told me that i was doing evey thing i should. And that there is no new rule that I can not use a Car Wash.

I just returned from Maine...and some of the lakes and ponds have boat washing stations to get any weeds off and also volunteer boat inspectors to look over the boat and remove weeds....
so I do not see what that EPO was thinking..most car washes re filter the water and also the soap used at them is so alkali it will most likely kill any mussels eggs..if it dissolves grease it most likely will clean off the mussel invader...
and pressure washing will not harm the boat if common sense is used...use the 3 foot rule ....keep the wand 3 feet from boat...and careful on the decals....

That's cool. It probably wouldn't cost that much to put in those stations, and it could really go a long way toward keeping out zebra mussels, water chestnut, etc. I saw an article a couple months back about how dogs can be trained to smell zebra mussels on boats. That would be a cool new trick for Fido Yikes.

You gotta love some of our EPO's. Was he a heavy set bald guy? I've run into him at Bartons launch and he is an idiot.

Swear1 Yote from what I hear from some of these EPO folks they will send you a ticket if some sob gives them your plate no and you will be accused of illegal operation of your ATV based on hearsay. Just like ATF searching your home because some idiot says you have illegal gun parts. Bash1BS
