This season I started taking notes on weather patterns when I fished.

So far I have noticed that my most successful days are around a new moon, but I have also noticed that when the Baromic pressure is below 30.000, the fishing is poor..Today was 29.896 with a dew point of 63.4 and humidity of 100% and I couldn't even catch a pumkinseed when I took my daughter to a local pond! This past friday the storm was coming in, the pressure was 30.167 with the dew at 67.2 and 76% humidity and I couldn't keep the fish off the hook... I'm not sure what all this means, but all my poor days so far this year have the same type of numbers compared to my good days!

Does anyone else take notes when you go fishing!! If so what type of moon phase and weather patterns have you found best? Yes I have to much time on my hands!!!

Moon phases do have a lot to do with fishing. Also if a LP system is coming in then the fishing picks up big time to.

the problem with moon phases is there is no scientific evidence that they are true. One of the problems is that most of us only fish at most a few times a month and we have our good and bad days. As a youngster, I used to look at moon phases and try to justify my good or bad days, then I started tournie fishing and relaized that it was all b.s. I would go into a T thinking, this is a bad moon and then have a bad day and come to the weigh in andthe whole field would have limits. The fish are ALWAYS biting something, somewhere, There are deifinately times when the feedbag is on but I lean towards the frontal conditions more. Barometric pressure HAS been proven to have an effect. If you only fish around some Moon chart, then of course, if you have a good day, you will say it is because of the moon phase, and also if you have a bad day. Ex: last month, Rivernut and I were fishing a tourney in Bellows falls Vt on the river, we had a killer day, maybe 60 smallies over 2lbs! going to the weigh-in, there were alot of sad faces and a couple of guys talking, and agreeing how the moon was out of phase and how poor the fishing was, Only a few limits came in and we won by over 5 lbs! with 8 BIG smallies. Point was, the fishing WAS slow, we adjusted tactics and lures and the feed was on. And in days where we were certain would be bad, based on what we caught, others slammed them at weigh-in time. Believe what you want...I believe I need another Senko!

I have always noticed as buckmanjr said that the fishing is always good when a low pressure system is moving in. LP system moving out and the fishing sucks.

if you have bait in the water you have a chance
