Is it adviseable to use octane boosters in an outboard motor?

Just my 2 cents.I raced two stroke motorcycles for years.Using octane boosters in two stroke is a toss of the dice.It only will give you about a 30% difference, which might seem good .But, It breaks down the oil migation quicker wehen it goes thought your rings (or ring) on the piston. It will cuase twice the wear on your motor. Octane boosters are mostly desighed for four stroke motors.I can't tell you how they work in a four stoke outboard though.Hope this helps.

I was told by the mechanic that it was the cause of death for my 135 Merc, the added octane booster to the already oxygenated gas, leaned out my oil to much causing my motor to blow!
Unless its a drag boat and your winning $$$$$$, keep it simple!!!

I have a 2002 25 hp Merc 4 stroke and was told when I bought it to use mid-grade gas. Most newer motors are designed to run on the gas formulations that are sold today. The only reason I could see for an octane boost would be for a high performance boat.
