Okay guys we need to begin planning for the next outing. I am going to post several regions in Massachusetts that members can vote to hold it in.
Looking for a member from that region to run it. I will be more than willing to assist you, and sure others will do the same.
The regions Eastern Massachusetts, Central Massachusetts, Western Massachusetts.
Im going to have to vote eastern ma like around framingham in that area would be perfect so its about an equall drive for everyone

Lake winnecunnet in Norton Mass has excellent bass fishing. Some one will get a 5 pounder or bigger. A better spot would be Norton resv. in norton, nice bass, and more of a beach area.

Ok, i think norton would be best.
Norton sounds like it would be cool. We already did Central Mass at the Brimfield Outing (Brimfield is basically in the center of the state) we just did wmass this past weekend on the ct river so eastern mass sounds like a go!Thumbsup

Do you guys want me to shut done the Polling? Buckmanjr I tried looking up Norton Res thru Masswildlife how many parking areas are there for boat and trailers, what is the size of the lake? What is the depth?
id keep the polling open still. alot of people havent even seen this yet so we need their opinions. it is a farther drive remember for people like tacoma and yote if they go since they live all the way up 91 close to vermont.

Not that deep, enough parking and a sandy beach. Fishing is good. It was a resevoir so its pretty big, but the part where the boat ramp is is about the size of a-1 pond (if you guys know where im talkin about) not that deer, average 4-6 feet. Produces come nice bass. Theres also lake sabbatia in taunton, check that out on the pond maps, no sand beach, but a lot bigger pond.

I love how everyone thinks western mass goes no farther than Springfield. I live in western mass...and there is 1 hour of land farther west than me! We should fish Onota Lake or Pontoosac Lake sometime. Can catch everything from Tiger Musky to Pike, Salmon and Trout, Bass and much more!!!! Plus the lakes are rather big with great paved parking areas that hold alot of trailers and great beaches!!!!
Eastern mass is bit of a hike with the boat but I would love to try ice fishing out that way. Here it is great!!!!

ya, eastern mass is great for ice fishing, 6 pounders every time. alright, im only 45 min. from a-1 site in westborough(i think thats the town) look it up on the pond maps. Theres some nice grass and i really dont know but i think it gets really weedy. That sounds like a good option, but, i dont care, my dad will be the one driving (:

My 2 cents, I don't know how many members we have from the eastern part of the state. If 90% are from around here, then you will probally get a better turn out keeping it around here. Again this is only speculation, but to get 20 member to drive 2 hours because 1 member lives out that way, it may be tough! Buck I use you as an example, because you have not been able to get out this way to attend a get together, because of the distance.
Although I have no problem with the drive, and seeing some of the bass that come out of the eastern part I would be up for it, but on the other hand if we only had three memebrs going out that way, and keeping it local we had 30, then I would support staying local.
Buck wheres the agawam river? I just read a report on NEF and some guys best 5 bass totaled nearly 26 pounds!!!

Good points guys, Buck how about running a Ice Outing in the winter out your way. That way we can have two events planned in the winter. I'll be there no matter where the location is chosen, and if guys want to car pool and split expense that would be cool as well. I can fit five people in my car. The offer is out there for the taking. Thumbsup

how about Webster Lake, either pre-Memorial Day or Post-Labor Day.
Same for the Oxbow(to avoid the "wreck"reational boat traffic)
Quabog, in Brookfield
or maybe we could arrange something between the boaters who are
Quabbin legal and those of us who aren't, to get together at Pottapaug or on the Lady herself.

Lake chauncy looks good. About an hour drive for me, great fishing to.
westbourough isnt that far away from us guys around springfield. its about 1hr 10 mins tops. if you do 75-80mph on the pike its about hr. ice fishing might be better out your way buck as then people dont have to trailor their boats and we can fit lots of people in a minimal amount of cars. but we will see what the people choose. also if someone that lives in another part of the state wants to have a small get together thats fine as im sure when we get bigger and get hundreds more members we will be more spread out. we used to be mostly from wmass but have gotten more members from eastern and far central mass lately.

The polling doesn't close till Saturday. At Jays request I am gonna leave it open to voting. Another good point is that we can have mulitple outings running at the sametime.
The place that Buckmanjr just posted Lake Chauncy is a 185 Acre Lake in Westboro Ma. It has Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Tiger Muskie, White Perch, and Black Crappie.
By the looks of the lake on the Masswildlife site it looks like a nice place. I am game for anything like I've said before and willing to travel. My boat has alot of road miles on her. 2-4 hour rides are a piece of cake. :)
If it comes down to it we could always travel out there together in case something happens to one of our trailers Flat tire ect, we could meet up at Exit 5 Chicopee and run the turnpike together.
But its still not set in stone lets wait it out a couple more days. Keep throwing suggestions out there they all have been really good.
How about Dates? Does September 23, 2006 good for everyone. Please post its around four weeks away enough time to plan ahead and get everything down.

Looking at the map it looks like Norton Res. would be a lot easier to find for us western folk. Looks to be right off 495 south. What kind of boat traffic can we expect (jet skis, waterskiing, etc)

I will have to skip out on this one. The wedding is right around the corner and the soon to be wife said she needs all the help she can get...your telling me!!!!! LOL
Plus with Bear season and Deer season are up next and I start cramming pretty hard these next few months. Like my fiancee says, " I don't see you from Sept. till Jan. 1st". Why, cause I am gone huntin'
Kill em' and grill em'

The resevoir has little to none jet ski traffic, with some fishing pressure.

oh, and if you guys want, we could meet at my house, because the sandy beach/boat ramp is harder to find, its all back roads.
