Anybody using big swimbaits (not storm shads)...examples being MS Slammers, Rago Rats Huddlestons??? Just curious to see if they've made it out in western MA.
I'll dig up some pics of the lures

I've heard of some guys using them but haven't see it first hand. I haven't seen any at any of the local tackle shops that I visit.

you can't catch a MA bass on something that big, what do you throw it on a tuna stick? We ain't fishing in Florida. You ever try a rapala MattB? Same idea but more the right size for fish around here.

I never fished out east of here besides saltwater. But alot of anglers I have talked to around here complain about their prices, and that they don't want to feed the pike or pickerl $12.00 or $13.00 lure. I don't complain about prices if it works I'll buy it and give it a shot. If I don't catch anything on it, well I'll store it away and try it somewhere else.
From what I've seen on your guys site I will try it out if I can get my hands on one.

13 bucks i wish, more like 40 bucks...
worth every penny...i've pretty much, for the most part put away all the crankbaits, spinnerbaits...i spend most of the time with the big lures and jigs...

40 bucks?!?!?! for a freshwater lure??? wow
i have seen some expensive saltwater tackle, but 40 bucks for a lure sucks....sorry to hear they are so much $$$ must be fun to watch them get slammed tho..

40 bucks is the average price, there are others more expensive...
if you buy 8 packs of senkos throughout the course of one fishing season, you've spent 40 bucks and you got nothing left to show for it...40 bucks is a small investment, in potentially catching a fish of a lifetime.
And bass just pretty much kill these baits, like flushing the toilet :)
i've lost count at homw many times guys get their PB's on largies and smallies within the first couple months of using them...and with a steel leader they make an excellent pike bait

I was joking with MattB about throwing them, I have my PB LMB,SMB, on them. I have been fishing for 25+ years and killed both PB's within the first 6 months of throwing swimbaits.

yea, i read that they can produce some big fish. i guess that puts some more lead to the saying "bigger bait, bigger fish"....i guess you really dont want to lose any of those swim baits. Any idea if they have anything like them for saltwater or where to get them???

Bills Bait & Tackle, Seekonk MA
or Tacklewarehouse.com
i'd go to bills, he'll explain it all to you, and you get to see the baits in person...having them being handcrafted makes each one different from the next...

With my luck i would cast it out and it would snag a weed and brake off.

you don't throw them on any kind of tackle that would break off on a weed. You are trying to catch 8+ lb fish, fish like that break lines that break weeds. I throw them on an extra heavy action rod rated to 5 ounces, and 30 lb test. I can pull trees off the bottom with it.

I will try it as soon as I can get my hands on one. I might take a ride out to Bills sometime in the near future to meet you guys, and pick up a couple of those swimbaits. Its worth the shot at a big fish.

Its defintely worth it...the rago rat, and 7" MS Slammer can be thrown on standard heavy gear, or a flipping stick...anything above these two baits, you'll need some serious lumber...not so much to cast, but to set the hook...Bills the man at setting you up with the right combo.
