I was wonder how many of you guys have a VHF in your boat's? I have seen a couple of boats in the river that have them, but there is never any chatter. For example on the Sound there is a ton of chatter. If you do maybe we could designate a channel for us in case of a break down or distress. I have helped a couple of anglers back to the ramp in my years on the river due to engine problems. But the only way the signaled me was waving their arms or the look of panic on their face as they were drifting helplessly down stream.

I have one in my old 16 ft lone star but not in my 14 ft starcraft. Can't find to many people fishing that turn on their radios. I have one party that Italk to and compare notes with when they are down there but i can never remember their name as i only see these guys a halfe dozen times a year. They run two different boats so that ads to the confusion. It's like me getting you mixed up with your namsake with the different middle name

I actually have 3. Two are flush mounted and one is a portable in my ditch bag.
A VHF is a basic safety feature that every boat should have. Channel 16 is monitored by the USCG and is the universal distress hailing frequency. I fish both inshore and offshore and cannot imagine not having a radio on board

To me it is like a PFD and I would not leave dock without it.
